Biography

ãssia Ghendir is a musician, vocalist, and somatic therapy practitioner based in England. Their practice explores the subtle dialogue between the movements of the Earth and those of the body. By blending their art with somatic care practices, they create a space where the traumas of marginalized individuals—adults with complex learning disabilities, elderly people at the end of life, victims of political conflicts—find pathways for expression and healing. This approach connects the sensory and emotional realms, engaging the body as a tool for resilience and dialogue with oneself and others.

ãssia Ghendir collaborates with artists such as Lafawndah, Trustfall, Tirzah, Coby Sey, Mica Levi, and performs on prestigious international stages, including the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, Nottingham Contemporary, and Modern Art Oxford.

Project

In Providenza, they explored the caves of Nebbio and the cliffs of Cap Corse to create the soundscape for their upcoming EP. This work examines the concept of ‘metasomatism,’ a process of transformation in which, within a rock, one mineral is replaced by another atom by atom. This gradual chemical alteration becomes, for the artist, a powerful metaphor for chosen and forced migrations, colonialism, and diasporic experiences. Their powerful devotional vocal practice—part healing, part offering, and part musical creation—led to surprising encounters with locals, particularly in Nonza, who inspired their work.

During the residency restitution, ãssia ghendir delivered a striking vocal performance under the stars, an incantation in an imaginary language, blending ritual and immersive sound, captivating the Providenza audience.
