Introduction
Tandem Films founder Mathieu Robinet and Providenza founder Antoine Viviani are launching Convergence, a residency program connecting emerging filmmakers with key players from the film industry.
At a time when film production and distribution are becoming increasingly complex, Convergence offers a dedicated space for dialogue, workshops and reflection, away from the intensity of markets and festivals.
Set within the natural landscape of the Corsican mountains, the residency will bring together five filmmakers currently developing their first feature films with a group of industry professionals including television executives, international sales agents, festival programmers, investment bankers, post-production executives and an established filmmaker. Over the course of ten days, participants will explore the challenges of feature film production, distribution and circulation.
The residency aims to help these visionary debut films reach their audiences without compromising their artistic intentions, while also rethinking and strengthening the relationship between emerging filmmakers and industry professionals.
“As the market grows more complex, young filmmakers are increasingly distanced from the fundamental issues surrounding a film’s circulation. It felt essential to reconnect their creative ambitions with the realities of the industry,” explains Mathieu Robinet, founder of Tandem Films. Since 2020, the company has placed a strong emphasis on supporting emerging filmmakers and developing new audiences, accompanying more than 50 films, 80% of which are first or second features. In 2024 and 2025, Tandem received the Caméra d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for The Summons and The President’s Cake.
The residency was conceived together with Antoine Viviani, filmmaker (Dans les Limbes, Insitu) and founder of Providenza, an agri-cultural laboratory based in Corsica that hosts an ambitious program dedicated to moving images, sound art, design and the living sciences. “We want to offer the selected filmmakers and guest speakers a space for open exchange, outside the usual industry circuits and conducive to creation,” says Antoine Viviani.
Supported by the CNC and ARTE, the first edition of the residency is co-curated and coordinated by producer and distributor Léa Alia Triboulet.
